UPDATE: Because of demand for tickets, this event has been moved to the Big Tex Auditorium at the UT Commons (Jake Pickle Research Campus). You must RSVP if you wish to attend.

More and more people are starting to talk about Mahout -- the open source machine learning library from Apache.  There are over a hundred individuals in Austin who either use, or are interested in, machine learning, but only a handful who have actually worked with Mahout.

We thought it would be good to get everyone together to meet those with similar interests and share what they know.

Zach Richardson, of Ravel, will discuss the limitations of current machine learning systems and give a brief introduction to Mahout. He'll go on to discuss current uses of Mahout (Clustering, Classification, and Regression), and what Mahout is missing. To finish, Zach will show how to get started with Mahout.

We'll be discussing other speakers shortly.

This event is organized by GeekAustin, and co-sponsored by the Austin Big Data User Group, DataStax, and Pervasive DataRush.

Hope to see you there!
